Life at Hatch
Invention and innovation are in our DNA. We continually trial new technology to improve our experiences. If there’s a hurdle, we jump it; if there’s a way through, we’ll find it!
Awarded gold in the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) 2024 LGBTQ+ Inclusion Awards.
Everyone here has something to teach, to inspire in others and learn. Likewise, we give and take feedback with an open heart and an open mind. Our curiosity is endless, and every day we seek out opportunities to grow ourselves and others. We don’t do comfort zones.
Our Story
The Hatch story started when good friends Adam Jacobs (Ex THE ICONIC Founder) and Chaz Heitner (Ex Zip Co-founder) came together to build something they were deeply passionate about.
Both founders believe that traditional hiring processes are broken and limit people from finding work that’s a good fit for them. Since founding the company, Adam and Chaz have built a team that shares their mission and are both confident they will continue to build an impactful global company for many years to come.

D&I Commitments
REA believes teams with diverse ideas and experiences are more creative, more effective and fuel disruptive thinking. Be it cultural and ethnic backgrounds, gender identity, disability, age, or sexual orientation. They know diverse teams are critical to maintaining their success and driving new business opportunities.
Contribute to the community
REA believe that everyone deserves a safe, secure and affordable place to sleep every night.
The REA Group purpose is to change the way the world experiences property, and this includes members of the community who are at risk of or currently experiencing homelessness. This is why their multiyear charity partnerships in Australia are with organisations working towards ending homelessness, and supporting disadvantaged members of our community who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness, such as those experiencing domestic violence.
REA Group’s charity partners include Launch Housing, Orange Sky Australia, and The Big Issue
Giving back
REA’s people are passionate about their communities and like to give back to causes close to their hearts. REA’s Because We Care program enables people to support causes they are passionate about through volunteering, matched payroll giving, employee community grants and fundraising.
- Matched Payroll Giving – employees can donate to the charities that matter most to them out of their pre-tax salary. And REA matches their donations, dollar for dollar, up to $500 a year.
- Volunteering- The volunteer leave policy offers up to 7 days paid leave to every employee every year.
- Employee Community Grants - Each year REA awards 45 community grants, up to $1000. These grants support community groups its people and their families are involved in.
- Community Café - The Community Cafe in Melbourne provides employees with coffee in return for a donation to charity. All funds are matched dollar-for-dollar as part of our Matched Payroll Giving program.
- Hack it Forward award – Part of REA’s regular hack-a-thons, the Hack it Forward award recognises innovation with a community-first mindset
Committed to environmental sustainability
REA Group’s Climate Change policy was first published in October 2020, with a focus on accounting for climate change in our own operations, as well as how we can play a role in addressing global greenhouse gas emissions in the broader property sector.
REA Group has committed to reducing and offsetting our emissions each year and have been certified carbon neutral by the Australian Government’s Climate Active program since FY20.
To ensure REA Group does its fair share of tackling climate change, they have developed science-based emissions reduction targets(SBTs) in line with approved methodologies. REA Group commits to reducing their absolute scope 1 and 2 carbon emissions by 42% and scope 3 emissions by 25% by2030 from an FY20 base year. More on Sustainabilityat REA Group can be found here.
